Idk you have a toddler and a really small baby still. I would be paying 20 an hour, 10 bucks a kid.

Hopefully your not near Boston Massachusetts! It’s about on average $400-$550 a week for an infant in day care and Preschool about $275-$400 a week based on location. On average a babysitter is $20-$30 an hour based on experience. Good Luck!

I usually try to work on price with parent …:where are you located

I pay my sister $60/day to watch my 3 kids while I work. She lives next door so she doesn’t have to use her gas or drive anywhere. I supply her snacks/drinks and whatever she wants at my house. My children are aged 1, 3 and 10. She babysits about 9 hours a day, 2-3 days a week.
If I need her for an appointment, I pay $30 for less than 4 hours.
Most daily rates of childcare in my area is $25 per child with a discount with each additional child.
Unfortunately since Covid, the daycares in my area only have a weekly rate so if I had my children go to daycare I’d have to pay for a whole week, when they’d only go 2 days a week- sometimes 3.
I can’t afford to pay half my income to childcare I only use 8-10 days a month.

I usually do 5$/hour/kid
If there is an only child 10$ an hour or working something out for overnights or all day sittng.

For 2, a family members watched them for $30 a day $20 for one and cut a deal on the other

It really depends though on what they’re offering :woman_shrugging:t2:

Please don’t pay minimum wage.
You don’t want minimum wage care for your children.

I charge $2 an hour per child! I’m from kansas. I provide the food and etc you provide the diapers and etc but I do have back up. So my rate is $2hr per child

I know kids are expensive and all but I don’t see how it’s worth it to watch kids all day for freaking $20-30🤣 I willingly pay my sisters $10 an hour for the most part. And my kids are 8 and almost 11😂

Minimum wage, at least. Dont be trying to pay babysitters no 30$ a day

I think it depends where you’re located? In my part of CT that would be around $22-25 an hour. High schoolers charge $17

I used to get .25 cents.

I paid $65 a day for available care 7am to 5pm. Only 4 days a week though.

daycare is only 180 ish a week for 1 kid. divide by 40 hrs = $4.50/hr or $36/day

I charge 20$ a day for an 8 hour day. 5 days a week. Mamas gonna end up paying under 200$ for about two weeks. I am not trying to punish a mother for needing to work and also wanting her child to be safe and well cared for either.

If you want a teenager who plays with your kid and is on the phone all day 8$ I have 25 years of experience references education background check CPR certification 100s of extra hours of early childhood education certifications in my pocket . You’re basically getting a one on one preschool teacher so you get what you pay for that’s my personal opinion .

I watch my kids for about 7 hours or so and I charge $40 a day for one child and $60 a day for 2(like siblings) and I live in Valdosta ga, everyone around me charges about 30 a day , it’s rarely an hourly rate. My niece babysits for someone and she charges $10 an hour. I do housecleaning too and helping my kids with preschool learning(they are toddlers). If you do less hours I’d charge hourly rate and longer hours if your parents can afford an hourly rate then great but ask for at least $10 an hour. Sometimes I have my kids 4 days a week and that gives me $160 a week per kid, so for my area $40 a day is good. It takes a little while to figure out what people in your area will be willing to pay

We got a packet of plain biscuits and sometimes a packet of Taytos and a mineral for 3 to 4 hours baby sitting.

At least 8 an hour for 3 kids.

… when I’ve babysat ive asked for whatever the person can afford to pay, most people are wanting to go out for a treat,
Some nights ive got a tenner for the night
Some people paid hourly
Some upped the rate after midnight

But… all it was, was putting them to bed if they weren’t already in and sitting watching TV, obdvs check on them, help if needed ect but wow dont even get paid these insane rates in any job ive had

$15-20 an hour depending on experience. Remember, Costco, target, whole foods erc. All pay $15 starting. No one is working for less anymore and working with kids is way more stressful anyway so it should pay more tbh.

Australians, do not comment. Its a different story in America. Also teenagers aren’t entitled to an adult’s rate so that is a factor. Best just dicuss with a babysitter you like and trust.

Yes its a big responsibility babysitting use your own morals and think what you thingy yourself would be worth

In the 80s and 90s I charged 1.50 to 2.00 and hour per child. Parents sent snacks weekly for the group or gave me an extra 10.00 a week for lunches or snacks. In the 2000s I charged 3.00 by 2005.

In the 1960s it was 50 cents an hour for as many children as the family had. I remember sitting 5 children for 50 cents an hour.

At the price you are paying for daycare, maybe a nanny is best, there’s agencies that provides certified nannies

In the Boston area my son pays $400.00 per wk.5 days

Not only does child care cost more but taking care of babies are higher rates

Here’s a guide I found for Australia:

A babysitter for 2 kids in NJ runs about $15-$25 an hour.

$30 a day
And for every minute you’re late you get charged $ 20

minimum wage here is $11 idk how yall afford 30 and hr

Find a good friend to watch your kids favors return favors

Pay at least the minimum hourly rate in your town; know the person.

15-18 dollars and hour

When I was 17, back in the early 70’s…I babysat for a woman with 6 kids and her boyfriends 3 kids for a $1.00 an hour. Usually early evening to early morning…and I walked myself there and home, probably a little over a mile each way.

My sister charges $100 per week per child. She also provides snacks and lunches. She also gets paid even if the child/children are absent, the moms/dads are ok with that. She’s been doing this for over 20 yrs and also has them sign a contract.

this depends on SO much! i’m currently making $20 an hour nannying a set of 18 month old twins. but i am a certified early childhood specialist in my state and also am a certified pre-k 3 teacher. i only stopped teaching when my school closed due to covid. even when i did just here and there babysitting though i’d charge $10 for one kid an hour with an additional $5 tacked on for other kids. never had a problem with that number and always got called back to sit again. if you want your kids to have a reliable, structured and educational experience you’re going to pay for that

2 million dollars! :joy::joy:
